Halloween Night
We composed AUTUMN POEMS - Based on our senses:
'My Summer Holidays' By Diarmuid,Rang 6
I got my summer holidays on June 28th. We had a Mass at the end of the school
year. There were lovely refreshments
afterwards.
First on my agenda was “Cúl Camp”! I go to “Cúl Camp” every year and it’s the
first event at the end of school. It’s a camp that teaches you how to play
Gaelic and it also improves your people skills. I love “Cúl Camp”, especially
lunchtime, when I get to see my friends from the other groups.
Next stop, FAI Camp! This camp teaches you soccer skills. One of my best friend’s brothers, Dean, was there. It’s not as good as “Cúl Camp” but still I enjoy
it.
Meath ahoy!
The first thing I saw as I walked in was a humongous chandelier! I could see a beautiful mezzanine
upstairs. I was greeted by a friendly
receptionist who wasn’t moody or tired at 3am!!
We collected our house key card and found it eventually. Dad and I tried not to wake up everyone
because we had stayed back a few days so I could play a match. And, I’m very grateful I could stay and
enjoyed the time I spent with him.
Tayto
Park – here I come! Tayto Park
was one of the highlights of my summer.
It was 28°c! I went on the “Cu
Chulainn” the biggest wooden rollercoaster in Europe ! It had dad’s stomach in knots! While we went to the waterpark dad lay down
on the grass and went to sleep! There
were lots more roller coasters, a 5-D Cinema, abseiling, a train tour, Ferris
wheel and seven restaurants!
Rathbeggan and I’ll be back!! Rathbegggan
Lake was brilliant. I went Lake Zorbing
first! Dearbhla and I shared one. I also ziplined across the lake which was
brilliant. And after it all, we got a
complimentary “99”!
Trim – a
blast to the past! First we went to Trim Castle
the biggest Norman Castle in Ireland !
It was fantastic! We went underground to the cells. Then we went into the actual castle - we went upstairs and walked on a walkway along
the outside of the castle! We went to
Bective Abbey which left me speechless.
It was amazing - the carving of the pillars, the beautiful turrets,
finely designed windows and how well preserved it is.
Newgrange
and Knowth – amazing architecture! This was
one of
my highlights. We collected our stickers and waited for our bus. At 11.25am, we left for Knowth. We were greeted by our cheery tour guide as
she told us the tour was approximately one hour, just enough time to get the
bus to Newgrange. We walked around and
heard about the carvings and the tombs until we got to the tunnel. It was a 30ft long tunnel, dipping in the
middle at 8ft below surface level.
Cathal, Áine and Maebh did it
with me. Then we went onto the tip of
it. The view was breath taking. And, every time you saw a green field or
yellow silage you just thought, wow !........this is special. The tour guide told us we could see seven
different counties - and eight including
Meath.
Newgrange – World Famous! Newgrange was brilliant! We saw the carved stones and what it was like
at the winter solstice. And, after a great day we had one of the best dinners ever
in a place called “Franzinis” which is beside Trim Castle . So all in all ………
MY SUMMER WAS
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
